The Hope Women’s Resource Clinic, a Beaumont nonprofit organization that has been a solace and support sys­tem for pregnant women and their families for more than 20 years, will be holding its annu­al gala Tuesday, Sept. 10, to raise funds to help the non­profit continue to provide “unconditional love and hope” to thousands of Southeast Tex­as women.

With the City of Beaumont gearing up for its multi-million-dollar Seventh Street project, some homeowners in the area aren’t happy the city has cut down some of the oldest trees in Old Town.

Jerry Craven, head of the Lamar University Press, recently received the Frank O. Connor Award for fiction for his short story “The Stone Salvation Barn.” Craven was chosen by descant, the literary journal of Texas Christian University, in which the story will be published, Lamar University said in a press release. More than 100 stories were considered for this prestigious award.

Police have arrested two men who they say robbed a small grocer Monday evening, Aug. 26. 

According to a BPD press release, officers responded to Mike's Drive-In at 680 Buford about 4:11 p.m. Monday night to find the clerk who told police he had just been robbed at gunpoint.
