One look at the DuPont Beaumont Works Industrial Complex and the hundreds of yards of plastic sheeting covering more than an acre of land to catch water runoff, red and white caution tape cordoning off certain areas and signs instructing people where they can and can’t walk suggest something is definitely wrong.

A chemical spill at the site this past Thursday has yet to be cleaned up and a week later, many workers are still not able to do their jobs as the process unit sits idle while crews decontaminate the area.

The Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) this week signed the Chief of Engineers Report on the Channel Improvement Project for the Sabine-Neches Waterway in Jefferson County, Texas, approving transmission of the project to the U.S. Congress for authorization and funding. 

City of Orange Deputy Fire Chief/EMC Jerry Ziller said the city’s fire marshal is looking for tips as to what or who started a blaze in the 300 block of Schley that consumed a vacant home.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has confirmed that the Dupont refinery located on Twin City Highway reported a chemical leak this morning (Nov. 3) at 10:25, indicating that 1,000 pounds of aniline were released, but that the leak has since been stopped and that section of the plant has been both evacuated and shut down, according to Heather Feldman, executive director for the Beaumont branch of the TCEQ.
