Women and Philanthropy promotes philanthropic education, leadership and advocacy by empowering women to be active participants in the giving process.

The Elmo Willard Branch Library is proud to feature Shaun Best, a local Beaumont resident, who experienced a traumatic brain injury when he was a child, City of Beaumont administrative assistant Rosanna Mojica said in a release. Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced Feb. 27 that Wilbert Anthony Frank, 29, of Port Arthur pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to commit aggravated assault, a first degree felony offense. The guilty plea was entered shortly before jury selection was to begin.

This closure is to allow for sewer repairs.

John Thomas Bebeau, 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017. He was born Dec. 12, 1956, to Dr. Eugene Russell Bebeau Sr. and Grace Kouns, in Beaumont. John Thomas was delivered as a package deal along with his twin sister, Charlotte Anne.

As a child, he was constantly motivated to keep his eight brothers and sisters smiling. Whether the jokes involved silly pranks or jumping on mattresses past bedtime with his older sister, Cathy, it was no doubt that John loved the sound of laughter.

The Office of the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division offered a reward on Feb. 27 of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons involved in the shooting of eight year-old De'Maree Adkins.

The award offered by the Governor’s office, combined with the Houston Crime Stoppers award of $5,000 will bring the total amount to $15,000.

Following a car crash around 2:00 A.M. on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Houston, an unknown gunman opened fire on the vehicle De’Maree was traveling in, resulting in her death.
