Another local teacher has pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and improper student/educator relationship.

Leann Wallace, a music teacher of more than 10 years at Legacy Christian Academy in Beaumont, was indicted by a grand jury March 28 and pleaded guilty to the crime in Judge John Stevens Criminal District Court Monday, July 15.

Water main break at 11th Street

After at least three days of on-and-off rain, a major water line in Beaumont gave way, temporarily muddying resident’s drinking water in Old Town and surrounding areas. 

At about 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, city crews were called to an 8-inch water main break on 11th Street near Gladys.

Vidor police are currently investigating an attempted shoplifting incident that happened Friday, July 12, at the Vidor Market Basket on Main Street at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Police say a series of break-ins Monday left one man in the hospital and at least two suspects on the run. 

On Monday, July 15, at about 8 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Threadneedle to find a man they later identified as 17-year-old Leonard Guillory climbing inside the house.

Detectives have identified three juvenile suspects in the July 5 attempted robbery of a postal worker that occurred in the 2100 block of Ives Street, the Beaumont Police Department said in a press release.

Detectives obtained felony warrants for all three suspects and have arrested all three. A 16-year-old, a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old, all female, were booked into the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Facility for a charge of attempted robbery, a third degree felony.
