UPDATE, 12/27/2016 at 8:00 a.m.: PAPD Major John Owens said in a release that an additional arrest has been made. A 44 year old woman was also arrested for alleged aggravated assault of a public servant and aggravated assault and family violence with a deadly weapon.

St. Anthony Cathedral School broke ground on a new technology center Thursday, Dec. 8, near the school playground.

“The new technology facility is being built with a generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rozas, longtime supporters of St. Anthony’s school, located in the heart of downtown Beaumont,” said Geneva Dixon-Peters, director of development for the school, in a release.

In fact, the retired Beaumont native and Beaumont High School grad has been playing Santa Claus at special events since the ’70s.

Shouts of volunteers of Some Other Place, who were handing out gifts to local family's during the charity's Christmas giveaway Dec. 22, rang out as Officer Todd Jackson of the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) walked through the door of the non-profit's storage warehouse after he found and returned 13 bicycles that had been stolen from the facility overnight.

The Reaud Family Foundation achieved a remarkable milestone in 2016, now having given away over 30,000 bicycles and children’s Bibles and blessing tens of thousands of children’s lives since the program started in 1998 with the gifting of 125 bicycles at its first annual Bicycles and Bibles event.

This week, Crime Stoppers needs your help in locating five fugitives wanted for drug charges.

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting potentially dangerous dope dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes each week in High Five.

“Crime Stoppers and The Examiner are teaming up to fight the drug problem in Southeast Texas,” Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley of Crime Stoppers said.
