Visiting the emergency room can be a frightening experience, especially for a child. Many children are scared to go see a doctor, much more so the ER, and the accident or injury that prompts a visit to the hospital can be terrifying enough without adding to the equation an environment that is unfriendly to children.

Beaumont Animal Services needs your help in saving lives. Come out to the Animal Shelter, located at 1884 Pine St. in Beaumont, this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from Noon until 4:00 p.m. to adopt an animal and save a life during Beaumont Animal Services’ 5th annual Adoptathon.

On May 21, relayers, service volunteers, cancer survivors and loved-ones of cancer victims alike gathered at the ACS office in Beaumont to commemorate ACS’s 100th birthday and to commemorate struggles lost and battles won.

If reaching its 100th birthday wasn’t enough reason to celebrate, American Cancer Society (ACS) has even more cause to commemorate the occasion. The Beaumont Relay for Life event, held May 3 at Ozen High School raised more than $150,000 total, with Relay for Life team Survivor Jefferson County alone raising $32,096 for ACS.

An amendment highlighting the findings of the State Department’s environmental review of the Keystone XL Pipeline passed the House floor May 22. According to a press release by U.S. Congressman Randy Weber (R-Texas), his amendment strengthens the argument to pass the Northern Route Approval Act, which declares that a Presidential permit is not required for the Keystone XL Pipeline’s application.

A Beaumont man was hospitalized after police say he was hit while riding his bike in Beaumont’s North End.

On 5/20/2013 officers responded to the 3500 block of Raven Street in reference to a disturbance. A white female was issued a criminal trespass warning and made to leave the residence.
