An 18-year-old man died in the streets of Orange after sustaining injuries from broken glass while crawling through a window after a burglary at a residence on 6th Street in Orange on Wednesday, May 22, police said.

Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 5:35 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to a robbery at the Express Mart No. 10  at 2210 Interstate 10. Upon arrival, officers found that two men had come into the store, and one was armed with what looked like a revolver. The subjects demanded money and cigarettes, and then left the store and got into a small white pickup which was parked outside.

One man is in custody after a suspicious package left at the corner of College Street and Major Drive in Beaumont caused a brief bomb scare.

Beaumont Fire Department spokesman Brad Pennison said police, SWAT and K-9 units received the call about 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, and were securing the scene soon after.

According to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, investigators have a suspect in the livestock shootings that occurred in a private property area of Mansfield Ferry Road in Vidor. Fifteen cows and calves were found fatally shot on Monday, April 15, at approximately 8:50 a.m. by a concerned citizen traveling past the field where the cattle lay dead and dying, according to Sheriff Keith Merritt on the morning of the discovery.

Orange County Commissioners have unanimously approved a resolution to nominate International Paper as a double jumbo enterprise project and entered into a contract with iDocket.com for the company to provide public, fee-based access to records of the district and county clerk offices.

A woman accused of brutally killing a Beaumont man and then setting his body ablaze pleaded guilty to murder Monday, May 21.

Deanna Edwards Wilson, 41, was indicted for the murder of Elkin Savoy, 58, whose body was found Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, burned and maimed as a result of an apparent homicide.

According to an autopsy report, Savoy’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the skull along with at least 15 stab wounds to the man’s head and face.
