Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting dangerous drug dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will periodically feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes here in High Five.

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Beaumont gathered at a local home for a philanthropic endeavor benefitting a family in need Friday, Dec. 4, in an all-day project aimed at easing a household problem far too many disabled persons face. Several volunteers rolled up their sleeves to build a wheelchair ramp and rails for a Habitat for Humanity family in Beaumont, just in time for the holidays.

A Sabine County Jail inmate who escaped over the weekend is in custody in Louisiana after authorities searching for the man uncovered his whereabouts with the public’s assistance.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the office has had reports of an older, heavyset, white male with a white beard who is driving a white van stopping children to tell them he has a sick puppy in the back of the van. The 2006 white van has a white rack on top with Ohio license plates. He has most recently been in the downtown Orange area on John Street and possibly the Mauriceville area.

David Nehemiah Diaz, disorderly conduct

Police in Orange arrested 34-year-old David Nehemiah Diaz for disorderly conduct on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, after Diaz reportedly shouted profanity and slung racial slurs at passersby and security personnel outside of a local grocery store.
