Police looking for vehicle seen in vicinity

On Sunday June 4, around 6:30 a.m., an inmate in the medical infirmary of the Jefferson County Correctional Facility reported that his bunkmate, a 70 year old white male, was unresponsive. Jail staff immediately began CPR and notified EMS.  They continued the CPR until EMS arrived and took over.

On Tuesday, June 6, at about 1:50 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to Sienna Apartment Homes, in the 6100 block of Sienna Trails, in reference to shots fired.

Effective Tuesday, June 6 at 8:00 a.m., the intersection of Harrison Avenue and 14th Street will be closed, City of Beaumont spokesperson Rosanna Mojica said in a release.

Two bystanders shopping at Walmart in Vidor stepped in to assist security personnel in detaining a thief accused of stealing electronics equipment from the store after the suspect physically attacked the employee, reports the Vidor Police Department (VPD).

On May 22, at approximately 11:50 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from the CSE Federal Credit Union, located in the 1100 block of Sam Houston Jones Parkway in Moss Bluff in reference to a robbery.

UPDATE: Capt. Crystal Holmes of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office gave the "all clear" at 12:44 p.m., signaling that the courthouse has reopened as no explosive devices were discovered following the bomb threat earlier today. 

Holmes reported that the investigation into the threat would be conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the ATF and the FBI.

Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine and Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush are warning area residents to be on the lookout for a suspect burglarizing vehicles in Mid-county, targeting automobiles of people who have recently visited the bank or other financial institution.

According to a Chief Lemoine, area police departments worked several daytime auto burglaries over several days leading up to June 2. Lemoine and Bush both said "the common denominator" in the burglaries is that the victims had all just left their banks after withdrawing money.

An immate at the Jefferson County Jail died in custody, reports Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Captain Crystal Holmes, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine what caused the 70-year-old man's death. 

In a news release, Capt. Holmes indicated that an inmate in the medical infirmary reported that his bunk mate was unresponsive at about 6:30 a.m. June 4. Jail staff immediately began CPR and notified EMS. They continued CPR until EMS arrived and took over. The inmate was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
