The Beaumont Independent School District hosted a food drive, which ended Nov. 15, that gathered 15,165 pounds for the Southeast Texas Food Bank, according to Doris Harris, Southeast Texas Food Bank administrative assistant.

The food bank provides food to over 130 hunger relief agencies in the area.

Beaumont Detectives have released the identity of the body found Oct. 31 inside an exhaust fan at the Beaumont Rice Mills, in the 1800 block of Pecos Road near MLK and Calder. The man is Louis Stevens, a 47 year old Beaumont resident, BPD PIO Haley Morrow said in a statement.


Police have arrested a suspect reportedly caught on tape during a robbery at Crawdad's convenience store in Orange Nov. 20 at approximately 11:50 p.m. 


Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a woman found shot to death at the La Quinta Inn in Beaumont Nov. 23 at 10:15 a.m., Beaumont Police Department Officer Haley Morrow reports.

According to Morrow, police, Beaumont Fire-Rescue and EMS responded to an emergency call from the motel at 5820 Walden Rd. in Beaumont in reference to a non-responsive female. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been shot. 


Instead of the crashing of the waves in Galveston, it was the rumbling of a sea of bikes.

For the past 15 years, bikers from all over the country have converged on the island to celebrate at the Lone Star Rally. And in 2016, from the seawall to the historic strand, a reported 576,000 bike enthusiasts (and 300,000 bikes) were hanging out and enjoying the largest four-day rally in North America.


 A rollover accident occurred Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22, on Highway 105, in between 2802 and the Orange/Jasper county line, about 100 yards from the scene of an earlier vehicle fire caused by a mechanical fault less than an hour before.

Orange County Deputy Scott Jacks confirmed that there were five children and two adults in the overturned SUV that rolled on the highway shoulder.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates the vehicle swerved to avoid striking another vehicle that was turning left.
