The Orange police are asking for the public's help in locating John Marion LeBlanc III, 39, in relation to a March 23 shooting. 

According to information from Orange Police Department, officers responded to a shooting on Saturday, March 23. Upon their arrival, they located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital.

LeBlanc is being sough in connection to the incident and is also wanted on a federal probation warrant, two felony warrants and six misdemeanor warrants. LeBlanc is thought to be armed and dangerous.

Port Arthur police officers responded to the 3600 block of Ninth Avenue on March 27, at about 4:30 p.m. in reference ot a major vehicle accident. 

According to witnesses at the scene, two vehicles appeared to be racing at a high rate of speed when an uninvolved vehicle was struck. The vehicle was driven by a 71-year-old man who received serious injuries as a result of the wreck. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in critical condition. As of April 2, PAPD reported the man was now listed in stable condition.

The Port Arthur Police Department reported they have found the body of a fugitive involved in a March 23 shooting, who was also responsible for other incidents in the city.

PAPD officers responded to the 1000 block of Delaware and upon their arrival, found Javier Palacios deceased in the alleyway. The department is not releasing details surrounding his death, however, previous information released from PAPD showed Palacios was an active gang member of the Sureños 13 gang.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a phone scam they were notified of on Saturday, March 30.

The Port Arthur Police Department responded to a shooting victim in the 2100 block of Thomas Blvd. on Sunday, March 31, at about 11:30 p.m.

According to information from PAPD, officers were called in reference to a black male knocking on the door of a resident, saying he had been shot. The victim had a gunshot wound to the upper arm/chest area.

The Beaumont Police Department reported on Friday, March 29, at about 11:15 p.m. officers responded to a residene in the 1800 block of Rivercrest in reference to a victim of a shooting. 

Their preliminary investigation showed a number of suspects fired shots near the residence with at least one round entering the residence and striking a 13-year-old victim inside the home. The victim was transported to a local hospital before being transferred to a Houston area hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday, March 27, a Beaumont burglary detective was contacted by a victim whose residence had been burglarized earlier this month. The victim told the detective she had found her stolen property listed for sale on Facebook.

During the March 27 meeting of the Orange County commissioners, it was decided to appoint former Orange County Judge Carl Thibodeaux to hold the vacant position through the 2020 election. Thibodeaux previously served as county judge for 20 years and retired after his term ended in January 2015.

Kelly Daws speaks with her lawyer

UPDATE: Kelly Daws has been found guilty and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.  

A trial is underway for 47-year-old Kelly Daws, who allegedly conspired with her boyfriend, 48-year- old Joal Riley, to murder her estranged husband, ex- Port Arthur Police Officer Jerry Daws. This trial comes after Riley was sentenced to serve seven years for aggravated assault in May 2018, stemming from the stabbing of Officer Daws in December 2016.

A Beaumont woman pleaded guilty for evading arrest and child endangerment after a June 17, 2018, incident.

According to Jefferson County District Attorney information, a Beaumont police officer responding to a call for service spotted Chelsea Batiste, 24, traveling in a Dodge Challenger “at a very high rate of speed.” The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, which resulted in Batiste fleeing from the officer through the residential neighborhoods.

Following a short pursuit, Batiste pulled into a store located on Grand Ave. and was taken into custody.
