According to the Port Arthur Police Department, just after midnight on Dec. 6, officers responded to the 2400 block of Julian Dr. in reference to an assault. Upon arrival officers discovered a black female had been shot several times in the upper torso.

Beaumont Police Detectives released a statement asking for assistance in locating 34-year-old Beaumont man, Debbon Lyons, who is wanted on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant out of Jefferson County. 

Beaumont Police Department wrote that he was last seen with an unknown male in a silver 4-door vehicle, possibly a Honda or Toyota. Police report that Lyons is considered armed and dangerous and may be trying to hide at his sister's house in Houston.

A woman was found allegedly shot by her boyfriend shortly after midnight Thursday, Dec. 6, in the 2400 block of Julian Drive, according to a statement from Port Arthur Police.

One year after Texas' highest criminal court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, made a final determination to overturn Kelvin Roy's murder conviction in the 2014 death of 16-year-old Alexandria "Lexy" Bertrand, Roy again appeared before Judge Dennis Powell for a second trial. Roy was found guilty of murder a second time on Dec. 5, and on Dec. 6, the Orange County jury sentenced Roy to 80 years in prison.  Roy's original conviction was overturned Dec.

A Jefferson County grand jury returned indictments against Danyell Seawright, 17, of Lufkin, in the shooting death of Olajuwon Vaughns on Wednesday, Dec. 5.According to the probable cause affidavit, Beaumont police officers responded to Autumn Oaks apartments on Eastex Freeway on July 24. Upon their arrival, they found 23-year-old Vaughns suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Responding Beaumont EMS pronounced Vaughns dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old Port Arthur man has been indicted for murder Dec. 5 related to the March 4 shooting death of 18-year-old Kevonn J. Washington.

Officers with the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) arrested James Earl Holloway Nov. 13 and charged him with Washington’s murder. Washington was found deceased at the Lakeview Palms Apartments, located at 5200 Gulfway Dr., having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

At approximately 10 p.m., on Nov. 30, in Jefferson County, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper attempted to stop a Subaru passenger vehicle on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation when the driver fled from law enforcement.

A 20-year-old Port Arthur man was transported to a local hospital the evening of Monday, Dec. 3, due to a gunshot wound to his lower extremities, reports the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD).

According to PAPD, officers responded to the 1400 block of Florida Avenue after receiving a call about a shooting. After arriving the victim was found by police officers and transported to a local medical facility for treatment. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Police have not released the name of the victim.

A 40-year-old Houston man has been convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown Dec. 4.

John D. Leontaritis, owner and operator of Vanderhall Exotics of Houston, and former owner operator of Global Motorcars of Houston, car dealerships that specialize in exotic, luxury automobiles, was found guilty by a jury Dec. 4 following a six-day trial before U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone.

Many people in the Beaumont community worry about where their next meal will come from. LongHorn Steakhouse is working to give those in need some relief. Every week, the LongHorn Steakhouse in Beaumont gathers unused, surplus food and prepares it for donation to Some Other Place.

Items like steak, fish, potatoes, honey wheat bread and vegetables are donated.
