Storms will be ongoing from Kansas to Texas early Thursday, before expanding in coverage and intensity into the afternoon, from the Upper Midwest to the southern Plains.

Two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 on Friday, May 2

DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis reported a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Friday, May 2, involved an SUV and a tractor trailer.


An Orange woman died in a single-car accident over the weekend, police report.

According to a news release from the Orange Police Department, on Sunday, May 4, the officers responded to the report of a one-vehicle traffic accident in the 11000 block of FM 1130.  Officers found that a white Ford truck had left the roadway, flipped, and then struck a telephone pole.  The driver was thrown from the vehicle, and was pronounced deceased at the accident scene by Judge Derry Dunn.  Evidence suggests that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.


A Rhode Island man was found dead by DPS Troopers Monday, May 5, following an auto-pedestrian accident occurring on Highway 87 in Port Arthur.

According to a Department of Public Safety press release, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, 26-year-old Lyndi Morris of Groves struck the pedestrian, 35-year-old Brian Chase, who was lying in the outside lane of the highway. Morris struck Chase once with her with her 1994 GMC truck, the press release stated.


The victim of a shooting arrived at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont Sunday morning prompting an investigation by the Beaumont Police Department.


Orange County Sheriff's deputies responded to an altercation between two men involving a machete on May 1 at about 4 p.m., OCSO reports.


A scammer identifying himself as a sheriff's deputy is targeting the elderly in Jefferson County, the sheriff's office reports.

2014-Q1 results for Beaumont

• Home sales volume was up 10.02 percent, which is significantly higher than the statewide trend.
