Calls to The Examiner’s office this week after the story of a 7.07 percent city property tax increase was adopted by unanimous vote of City Council took on a very similar theme, with over 90 percent of the calls stating they had not heard about the city even considering a raise in taxes – much less that they had done it – until reading The Examiner last week. 


In an effort to help Texas drivers keep their child passengers properly secured, the Texas Department of Transportation announced it is offering free, year-round child safety seat inspections conducted by certified technicians. The inspections are available by appointment at each of TxDOT’s 25 district offices.

Baby Faith Mason

Police in Port Arthur have arrested the parents of Baby Faith, a 10-week-old child who was severely injured and is still in critical condition at Texas Children's Hospital.

In a press release issued by PAPD spokesman Raymond Clark, police confirmed the two suspects in the case are Faith Mason's parents, Christine Johnson and Darrell Mason.

The outside west and eastbound lanes of the IH-10 frontage roads from 11th Street to 7th Street in Beaumont will be closed

BPD is on the look out for at least two men posing as roofers who have scammed two Beaumont senior citizens.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a fugitive wanted for two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. They are asking for the public’s help in locating 58-year-old Robert Gehagan.
