Beaumont Police Chief Frank Coffin announced today that he will retire his post effective Sept. 30.  Coffin, who has been a member of the city’s police force for nearly four decades, has been its chief since 2006.

UPDATE: On Friday after the Jefferson County Sheriff's office released a report of the arrest of Timothy R. Verdon the Sheriff's office stated they would have a press conference on Monday the 28th of March at a time to be announced Monday.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a pipeline leak in west Jefferson County near the Chambers County line at about 7:30 a.m. The sheriff's office had received a call from a resident reporting the pipeline leak on Rollins Road at a pump station. The resident described the pipeline as "blowing its top and making a loud noise."

A telemarketing group calling residents in Southeast Texas to raise money on behalf of the charity group AmVets (American Veterans), based in Maryland, has telemarketers claiming to be members of the military and refusing to give information about the company they work for or how much that company profits from others’ generosity.

        BEAUMONT, Texas – A 41-year-old Grayson, Georgia man has been sentenced for hurricane-related fraud in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Morris Joseph pleaded guilty on Aug. 26, 2010, to making a false claim and was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay $18,188.84 in restitution by U.S. District Judge Ron Clark on Mar. 22, 2011.
