As the rains from Tropical Storm Imelda recede and the damage from the storm comes into focus, Entergy Texas is announcing $350,000 in charitable contributions to help rebuild the communities it serves.

According to the probable cause affidavit of Jefferson County District Attorney Investigator Marcelo Molfino and Houston Inestigator V. Lagunas, 74-year-old James T. White "intentionally, knowingly or recklessly" committed the felony offense resulting in the indictments on Oct. 9, 2017, "by aiding someone or observing them in the commission of these crimes; permitting these crimes to occur on property owned by the person; and advertising or accepting an animal with the intent to commit these crimes."

Dreams do come true as demonstrated so vividly on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office firing range in when Sheriff Bobby Rader fulfilled the dream of 8-year-old Issac “Bubba” Ivey by swearing him in as an Honorary Special Response Team (SRT) member.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Sept. 17, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office received information reporting the finding of a child’s body in a wooded area off CR 142 in south Liberty County. Sheriff’s lead Investigator James R. McQueen responded and along with other Sheriff’s personnel located the skeletal remains in a shallow grave.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reported that on Sept. 21, just after midnight, law enforcement agencies were notified of an aggravated robbery that had taken place at a hotel in Winnie. The victim advised that he and his family were staying at the hotel after his home flooded from Tropical Storm Imelda.

Power has been restored to all customers who can safely receive it, but for hundreds of customers whose homes and businesses flooded during Imelda, it could be some time before their buildings can be energized.

On Sept. 16, at about 1:30 p.m., officers with the Port Arthur Police Department responded to the Tiger Mart located at 8149 Ninth Ave. in reference to a subject with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers arrived and found the victim in the parking lot of the business. Inside the store, officers located a suspect in the shooting. He was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The suspect was identified as Demonte Thomas, 22.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for a man accused of aggravated sexual assault of a child who has been on the lam for the last year-and-a-half.

JCSO reported 38-year-old Jose Ramos was last known to live in Port Neches and has been at large for more than 18 months. Ramos is 5-foot-3-inches and about 140 pounds.

The Jasper Police Department reported 53-year-old Royce Edward Larkin is in jail in Jasper County charged in the stabbing death of a 61-year-old woman.

On Sept. 11, Jasper PD received a 911 call from a man advising that officers were needed at the Roadway Inn motel. The caller didn't provide any information as to why officers were needed, nor his identity.

A 25-year-old Orange man is behind bars in Jefferson County after being arrested for sexually assaulting a child.

On Sept. 10, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to 4023 Brinkman Drive in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, and through further investigation, it was determined a 7-year-old child made an outcry to her mother of a sexual assault that had just occurred. The suspect, 25-year-old Horace Hiawatha Walker of Orange, fled the scene before officers arrived but later turned himself in at the Port Arthur Police Department.
