At about 5 p.m. on Aug. 26, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to Port Arthur Park Apartments, located at 1348 Jefferson Drive, in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.

When they arrived, officers discovered a 30-year-old male Port Arthur resident had been robbed at gunpoint and the suspect had fled the area on foot. Officers were able to develop and locate a suspect. The 19-year-old Port Arthur man was transported to the Port Arthur Police Department where he was interviewed by detectives regarding the case.

On Aug. 20, officers with the Beaumont Police Department arrested 18-year-old Christian Joseph Guillory for terroristic threats made at Monisgnor Kelly High School.

According to police infornation, on Aug. 14, Guillory, a former Kelly student, along with another former student, went to the school to eat lunch with some current students. While they were at the school and as they were leaving, Guillory made comments police described as threatening and alarming.

On Aug. 20, at about 5:30 p.m., the Vidor Police Department received a call from an individual in reference to a body floating in the canal near S. Main Street and Greathouse Road. The body was recovered with the assistance of Orange Count Emergency Service District No. 1 and was tentatively identified as a local male resident.

Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose-Simonton ordered an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing pending results of the medical examiner. VPD will release the name of the man pending final identification and notification of next of kin.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies were responded to a call to an area near the Arkema plant located in the 2800 block of Gulf States Road in Beaumont on Aug. 21, at about 12:30 a.m.

Deputies, the Beaumont Fire Department and EMS arrived at the scene and found a 39-year-old Union Pacific Railway employee had been pinned between two railway tank cars. He was pronounced dead at th scene by Justice of the Peace Ransom Jones and an autopsy was ordered. The man was idetnfied as Travis Andrepont of Louisiana.

Two Jefferson County men housed in the Liberty County jail are on the run after escaping in the early morning hours of Aug. 20.

Information from Liberty County Sheriff's Office said 44-year-old Clay Sterling Harvey, of Nederland, and 28-year-old Chance Marshall Hunt, of Beaumont, went missing between 4 and 6:15 a.m. During an inspection of the jail faclility, jailers discovered a fence on the east side of the jail perimeter had been cut open. Liberty County investigators believe this was the escape route of the two missing inmates.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office reported that at about 11:45 p.m., Sunday evening, Aug. 18, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting two men were found laying in the roadway of CR 428 in South Liberty County after gunshots were heard. 

The victims were identified as 20-year-old Christopher Allen Wells and 24-year-old Quintin Lee Brown, both of Dayton, were riding their bicycles in the area when a dark-colored truck, pulled alongside them.

Beaumont police officers were called to a shooting on Aug. 17 at about 5:45 p.m. in the area of Dowlen Road and Eastex. Officers quickly arrived and discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The victim was identified as Jesse Angel Rodriguez, 20, of Beaumont.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a disturbance had take place inside CiCi's restaurant prior to the shooting. The victim was shot while driving, just after leaving the parking lot.

On Aug. 18, at about 8:15 p.m., officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to a theft that had taken place at 1201 Seventh St. Officers obtained a description of the suspect and located a man fitting the description nearby. 

It was found that the victim had been assaulted during a purse snatching. The suspect was arrested and booked for robbery. The man's identity has not been released as of publication and the incident was under investigation by PAPD's Criminal Investigations Division.

Aug. 14, at about 10:15 a.m. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 17000 block Burrell Wingate Road in reference to a burglary that had just taken place.

The caller informed dispatchers that upon his arrival home, he noticed a suspicious truck in his driveway with several of his belongings in the bed of the truck. Two suspects quickly sped away from the scene and the homeowner followed as he contacted 911 and was able to provide them with location updates. A nearby JCSO deputy intercepted the suspect vehicle and followed them to a dead-end road.

Aug. 9, at about 3:40 p.m., officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to Stacy Market, located at 3248 Gulfway Drive, in reference to a disturbance. 

The investigating officers learned one of the parties involved in the disturbance had robbed the store. Officers were able to identify the suspect and the 23-year-old Port Arthur man was located at his residence a short time later and arrested. He was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where he was booked in for robbery.
