This week, Crime Stoppers needs your help in locating five fugitives wanted for drug charges.

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting potentially dangerous dope dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes each week in High Five.

“Crime Stoppers and The Examiner are teaming up to fight the drug problem in Southeast Texas,” Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley of Crime Stoppers said.

More than $2 million has been awarded to Southeast Texas to help local agencies assist victims of crime, according to South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) Executive Director Shaun Davis.

On Jan 12., shortly after midnight, Beaumont Fire and Rescue units responded to a structure fire at Carlito’s restaurant, located at 890 Amarillo, reported Captain Brad Penisson.

When firefighters arrived, they found a small fire at the electrical panel on an exterior wall. The fire was quickly extinguished and caused only minor damage, according to the BFD statement.

Police in Beaumont arrested a Louisiana man and seized approximately 395 grams of dangerous narcotics during a traffic stop inthe 5400 block of Walden Road on Jan. 10, Beaumont Police Department (BPD) Officer Haley Morrow reports.

At approximately 4:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a multiple vehicle crash on US 69, near Cooks Lake Road, in Hardin County, Texas DPS PIO Stephanie Davis reported at 7:33 p.m.

Effective Wednesday, Jan. 11 beginning at 8 a.m., Harrison Avenue from 14th Street to 15th Street will be closed to all traffic, City of Beaumont administrative assistant Rosanna Mojica reported Jan. 10 in a release.

Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, be aware of all signs, advance warnings including other signage, and travel with caution.

At approximately 8:30a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a rollover crash on South Pine Island Road near Brooks Road in Jefferson County, DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.

A Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on South Pine Island Road. The driver of the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed, hit a bump in the road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle flipped end-over-end several times before coming to rest.
