Police in Beaumont are currently investigating the second fatal shooting on June 7, this one occurring at the Cypress Bend Apartments.

Beaumont Police Department Officer Cody Guedry reports that officers responded to the apartments, located at 1450 N. Major Drive in Beaumont, at nearly 10 p.m. Thursday night and arrived to find a victim on a stairwell in the apartment complex. The victim was non-responsive and had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper chest area. Beaumont EMS was on the scene and determined that the victim was deceased.

Beaumont Police have begun investigating a homicide at the Concord Manor Apartments Thursday, June 7.

The investigation follows a report to Beaumont Police that around 9:20 a.m., 24-year-old Beaumont man, Yasin Jones arrived at St. Elizabeth Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, before passing away. The police received information that the homicide could have occurred in the 5600 block of Concord. 

Next of kin have been notified.

Police in Jasper arrested a 26-year-old man for first-degree felony arson June 4 after they say he intentionally set fire to the residence he shared with his grandmother, who, at the time of this report, remained in critical condition at UTMB Galveston due to smoke inhalation.

A Port Arthur man was hospitalized after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during an incident in Port Arthur. Police are still investigating, and no arrests have yet been made.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) raided a Vidor game room June 4 after receiving numerous complaints from area citizens sick of the gambling den, reports OCSO Criminal Investigator and Public Information Officer Janois Strause Grizzaffi.

Beaumont Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the Hamlet Park apartments on Crow Road the morning of Tuesday, June 5.

Scott Wheat, A Beaumont District Fire Chief, explained that it appeared to be an accidental fire out of the kitchen and the occupants were not at home. The incident left no injuries, however the occupants did lose a pet.

A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County sent three to the hospital the morning of Monday, June 4. 

Initial reports from the Texas Department of Safety indicate that a Toyota passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 followed by an Infinity SUV.  For an unknown reason, the driver of the Toyota struck a concrete barrier.  After striking the barrier, the vehicle traveled back into traffic and was struck by the Infinity.

A multi-vehicle crash on FM 105 in Orange County claimed the life of Vivian Townsend Markle, 72, of Vidor, on Sunday, June 3. 

A Department of Public Safety press release reported that a 1996 Honda was traveling northbound on FM 105, while a 2008 Ford SUV was traveling southbound on FM 105.  As the driver of the Honda entered a curve, he traveled into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the Ford.

Wednesday, May 30, at 8:27 p.m., Beaumont Drug Enforcement Agents (DEA) were conducting a surveillance investigation in search of an 18 wheeler believed to be carrying a large amount of drug money to the Texas/Mexico border. They located the truck in Lafayette, Louisiana and followed it into Texas. With the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Beaumont PD, Vidor PD, Port Arthur PD and Texas DPS, the truck was tracked into the Beaumont area and stopped on IH10 near the 848 mile marker.
