Aug. 1, Jefferson County Go Texan, in conjunction with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, announced the appointment of a new Ambassador for Jefferson County Go Texan.


It may be the summer, but scammers aren’t taking a vacation. Scammers target everyone - individuals, businesses, non-profits and even places of worship. Recently, Entergy Texas reported it has received calls of customers being targeted.      


Aug. 1, at 9:15 p.m., officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of Ninth Avenue in reference to a burglary.

When they arrived, officers discovered two white male Nederland residents had forced entry into the residence and assaulted the homeowner. The suspects then fled the scene.

Both suspects were identified and the PAPD Crime Response Team was able to track the suspects down to a residence in Nederland. With the assistance of the Nederland Police Department, both suspects were arrested for burglary of a habitation. 


A Port Arthur man has been sentenced to 50 years incarceration after a Jefferson County jury found Leroy Gipson guilty of the 2018 killing of Roderick Wiltz.

Aug. 10, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were called to Chop Shop Barbershop located on Gulfway Drive because of a stabbing incident. Dispatch advised as the officers were enroute that the suspect was possibly Gipson.


On July 31, members of the Port Arthur Police Department's SWAT team and ATF agents raided a home in the 4100 block of Charlotte Drive to serve a search warrant aimed at locating drugs and stolen property.

Several guns were seized and seven people were arrested. At least one of the guns discovered had been reported stolen. A stolen police protective vest was also recovered.

In addition to the guns, arrests and stolen property, illegal drugs were also found. 


On July 29, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the construction site of the Pine Tree Lodge, located on Pine Tree Road in LaBelle, in reference  to construction workers injured by electrocution. Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 4 and Acadian Ambulance also responded.


The Beaumont Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in identifying a man caught on camera performing lewd acts at Parkdale Mall.

On July 6, at about 10:45 a.m., an unidentified black male followed a female employee from JC Penney into the mall. Officers report that she felt uneasy by his actions and had the department store's loss prevention check their video. 

The man was captured on the store's CCTV system masturbating while standing next to the front doors of the store. 


On Tuesday, July 23, officers with the Beaumont Police Department's Special Assignment unit were conducting an operation on suspects involved in multiple auto burglaries, which involved the theft of several firearms.

Officers located the suspects and conducted a traffic stop near Wooten and Landis. Two stolen firearms were located in the vehicle during the traffic stop.

Furhter investigation led officers to multiple locations inBeaumont were additional weapons were recovered. A total of seven weapons were seized. four of which had been reported stolen. 


The Beaumont Police Department responded to Forrest Lawn Cemetery in reference of a crashed vehicle found in the woods at the back of the property.

When officers arrived, they located the vehicle at the bottom of a 20-foot drop-off in the woods. A body was located in the driver's seat of the vehicle and was identified as Terrel Martin, 31. Martin was reported missing on July 11, but was last seen on July 5. 

BPD's Traffic Unit and Person's detectives are investigating the cause of his death.


Port Arthur police officeers were called to the Cedar Ridge Apartments on Ninth Avenue on July 28 at about 9:45 p.m. in reference to shots fired.

Arriving officers found an 18-year-old male resident had been shot in his lower extremities. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries. 

The case is currently being investigated by PAPD's Criminal Investigations Division.
