On Aug. 27, at about 9:30 a.m., Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer was attempting to locate a man wanted on an outstanding felony warrant at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Fourth Street. As Hanauer drove into the parking area for the complex, he spotted a a white male he recognized as the wanted man. The police chief made contact with the suspect, who immediately got into his vehicle and fled the area.

The body of a Beaumont woman who went missing Aug. 21 was found days later, the Beaumont Police Department said.

Mina Jean Hamm, 76, of Beaumont was last seen at CVS, located at Highway 105 and Eastex Freeway, around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police had additional concerns as Hamm was off needed medication at the time.

On Aug. 24, at about 3 a.m., officers with the Beaumont Police Department were called to the area of W. Cardinal Drive and Fannett Road in reference to a one-vehicle crash. Arriving officers found a black Chevy Suburban in the 1700 block of W. Cardinal Drive. The driver of the vehicle, as well as his dog, were both deceased. The preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle was traveling on Cardinal Drive when it left the roadway and went into the median and continued traveling between the guardrails dividing east and westbound lanes.

An investigative effort between the Port Arthur Police Department and the Texas Rangers resulted in a break in a cold case more than three decades old. 

Jefferson County District Attorney Bob Wortham announced the arrest of Daniel Andrew MacGinnis for the 1988 murder of Patricia Ann Jacobs on Aug. 27.

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Champion Road and Highway 62 on Aug. 26, at about 5:30 a.m. The crash involved a commercial motor veihcle.

On Aug. 25, at about 11:45 a.m., the Vidor Police Department received a call regarding two aggressive dogs in the 500 block fo Alamo. The caller advised that the two animals were in his yard acting in an aggressive manner.

At about 5 p.m. on Aug. 26, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to Port Arthur Park Apartments, located at 1348 Jefferson Drive, in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.

When they arrived, officers discovered a 30-year-old male Port Arthur resident had been robbed at gunpoint and the suspect had fled the area on foot. Officers were able to develop and locate a suspect. The 19-year-old Port Arthur man was transported to the Port Arthur Police Department where he was interviewed by detectives regarding the case.

On Aug. 20, officers with the Beaumont Police Department arrested 18-year-old Christian Joseph Guillory for terroristic threats made at Monisgnor Kelly High School.

According to police infornation, on Aug. 14, Guillory, a former Kelly student, along with another former student, went to the school to eat lunch with some current students. While they were at the school and as they were leaving, Guillory made comments police described as threatening and alarming.

On Aug. 20, at about 5:30 p.m., the Vidor Police Department received a call from an individual in reference to a body floating in the canal near S. Main Street and Greathouse Road. The body was recovered with the assistance of Orange Count Emergency Service District No. 1 and was tentatively identified as a local male resident.

Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose-Simonton ordered an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing pending results of the medical examiner. VPD will release the name of the man pending final identification and notification of next of kin.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies were responded to a call to an area near the Arkema plant located in the 2800 block of Gulf States Road in Beaumont on Aug. 21, at about 12:30 a.m.

Deputies, the Beaumont Fire Department and EMS arrived at the scene and found a 39-year-old Union Pacific Railway employee had been pinned between two railway tank cars. He was pronounced dead at th scene by Justice of the Peace Ransom Jones and an autopsy was ordered. The man was idetnfied as Travis Andrepont of Louisiana.
