At about 12:30 a.m. Julyy 5, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of 11th Avenue in referencce to a man who was bleeding profusely. 

Once officers arrived, they discovered a black male victim had sustained a large cut to his arm during an altercation with another man. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital where he underwent surgery for the injury. As of publication, the victim was listed in critical condition.

Sunday, June 30, at about 9:30 a.m., officers with the Beaumont Police Department were called to investigate several burglaries at the Super 8 Motel located at College Street and Interstate 10, in which multiple cell phones were stolen.

An unnamed Port Arthur police officer was arrested for intoxicated driving Saturday morning, June 29, just after 5 a.m.

Information from PAPD regarding the incident states a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office made the arrest on Old Sour Lake Road near Beaumont after receiving a call of a vehicle stopped in the roadway. The deputy discovered the driver of the vehicle, the PAPD officer, was found asleep in the vehicle.

The Port Arthur Police Department was called to Highway 82 on Pleasure Island on Sunday, June 30, at about 1:30 a.m. where a vehicle was reported to have driven into the adjacent waterway.

Responding officers located the vehicle in Alligator Bayou. Two officers entered the water in an attempt to rescue the female driver; unfortunately, they were unable to rescue the driver.

At about 10:50 p.m., June 27, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department responded to a residence at 3600 Normandy Avenue in reference to a home invasion. 

Responding officers were told three suspects armed with handguns forced their way into the victims' home. Upon entry, the suspects ordered the victims to the ground and took belongings from them. 

The three then fled on foot in an unknown direction. PAPD's Crimina Investigations Division is looking into the matter.

The Port Arthur Police Department responded to a reported robbery on Thursday, June 27, at about 11:30 p.m. at Fuel Depot located on Twin City Highway.

Upon their arrival to the gas station, officers learned two black, male suspects armed with pistols entered the store and assaulted the clerk on duty. The stole merchandise from the store and fled the scene. 

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. PAPD's Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the crime.

The Lumberton Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in identifying a man that burglarized the Dollar Tree store located at 725 N. Main St. 

LPD said a white male entered the store in the early morning hours of May 28 and utilized a grinder to break into the store's safe.

An escaped inmate is back behind bars, along with a Winnie woman who assisted, after escaping custody following a court appearance.

According to Chambers County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), at about 11 a.m. June 21, Herbert Lee Coward, 37, of Winnie, fled from custody following the courthouse hearing. At the time, Coward was handcuffed, wearing leg irons and an orange and white jail issued jumpsuit. Coward was among several inmates being loaded into the county jail van after leaving the courtroom.

One man has been charged in the deaths of three following a boating accident Sunday, June 23. 

According to information from the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, at about 7:30 p.m. that day, deputies received a call regarding a boat wreck that took place about half a mile from the Hugo Park Road boat ramp near Old and Lost River and Cross Bayou. The caller reported therre were numerous injuries and individuals in the water at the time. Deputies, fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene and Texas Parks and Wildlife were notified.

Following the runoff election for Port Arthur mayor held June 22, Port Arthur will now have a new mayor holding the highest office in the municipality.

Voters took to the polls starting June 10 for early voting. Of the city's 27,977 registered voters eligible to take part in the runoff election, 3,484 submitted their votes, making up 12.45 percent of eligible voters.
