DPS released a statement informing that I-10 westbound from FM 365 to Hamshire Rd. will be down to one lane of traffic nightly starting tonight and ending Thursday, Aug. 30 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to place concrete barrier and work on striping. Expect possible delays.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released a statement asking for help in identifying two suspects who robbed a convenience store in IH10. On Saturday, Aug. 11, at 9:21 p.m., the Stuckeys Travel Center, formerly known as Bar H, at19498 IH10 was robbed at gunpoint.

Dacqure Holmes was sentenced to 30 years in prison, for two counts of aggravated robbery, which was announced by District Attorney Bob Wortham Monday, Aug. 27. 

According to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office of Jefferson County, on March 20, 2017, Holmes held a 14-year-old at shotgun point at a bus stop in Port Arthur. Holmes stole money from the juvenile and forced him to remove all of his clothing.

Kona Ice, a mobile shaved ice truck that serves customers at events as well as on route throughout the week, is now coming to west Beaumont. This shaved ice franchise comes to Southeast Texas thanks to local residents Monica and Abel Sanchez. 

Kona Ice features 10 flavors in their self-serve interactive dispenser, as as well as more than 20 additional flavors. The shaved ice truck brand is known to host events that give percentages of proceeds to philanthropic causes, which the couple plans to continue.

Jefferson Sheriff Office issued a statement reminding citizens the rules of the road in regard to school bus stops. According to Texas statute, a driver – traveling in either direction on a roadway – must stop when approaching a school bus that is stopped and operating a visual signal. The driver may not proceed until one of the following occurs: the school bus resumes motion; the operator is signaled by the bus driver to proceed; or the visual signal is no longer activated.

A victim was shot in an aggravated robbery was committed the night of Saturday, August 25 at a1480 IH-10 E (Valero). Officers were on scene within 3 minutes of receiving the call of a robbery in progress, however the suspects had already fled the area on foot. According to a press release from BPD, preliminary investigation revealed that three black male suspects approached an employee in the parking lot of the business and forced him back inside the store at gunpoint. Once inside the store one of the suspects jumped the front counter and demanded money from the clerk.

Multiple shootings occurred the night of Friday, Aug. 24. Beaumont Police responded to three separate shootings, which left two injured.
