Local law enforcers executing a narcotics search warrant in the 3100 block of Gulf Street in Beaumont reportedly found meth, marijuana and a cache of weapons - weapons that officers believe could be related to recent gun violence in the area.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 35-year-old Beaumont man that occurred on Magnolia Street in an area of the city that has been recently rocked by gun violence, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

According to BPD, officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Magnolia at 11:05 p.m. on June 29. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a deceased male victim with gunshot wounds lying in the grassy area near the apartment complex. Police identified the man as Cedathion Rashard Dill.

At approximately 8 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10, near the Neches River bridge, in Orange County.

Initial reports indicated that a Honda Civic was traveling westbound  in the inside lane on Interstate 10 followed by a Kia passenger vehicle.  Due to normal morning traffic, both vehicles began to slow down when the Kia was rear-ended by a Chevrolet pickup truck.  The impact of the collision caused the Kia to rear-end the Honda.

A Jefferson County jury awarded Signature Industrial Services $122 million in a breach of contract ruling against International Paper on Thursday, June 1. The verdict was delivered after seven hours of deliberation with the trial lasting three weeks in Judge Justin Sanderson’s court.

Signature Industrial is a general contractor providing general maintenance, new construction, call out, and turnaround services. The business is based in Beaumont and is owned by Jeff Ogden.

Numbers are still not finalized for 2016. However, preliminary information available nationally suggests most cities have seen a spike in the number of violent crimes committed, according to information compiled at the Department of Justice. And Southeast Texas is no exception.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office has arrested multiple suspects in separate burglaries plaguing a refinery, two convenience stores and the North Hardin Water Corporation.

“Each case is separate,” Sheriff Mark Davis said in a statement July 3.

North Hardin Water Corporation

April 26, the main office of the North Hardin Water Corporation, located on FM Highway 92, north of Silsbee, was burglarized. The suspects took property from inside and caused damage to the building.

City Manager Mike Kunst and Vidor’s Planning and Zoning Commission are working on a plan to implement zoning in the city and, in preparation, are asking for public input on the matter and for information about businesses operating in residential neighborhoods around the city.

With the Pride and Progress initiative and other programs recently implemented to promote business and residential development in the city, Vidor is changing, said Kunst, and so are its needs.

Andrew, Kera and Alaya Teel

Thursday, July 6, the family of murder victims Kera and Kyndal Teel are entering into litigation against the apartment complex where the mother and her yet-unborn daughter fell victim to a gunman’s bullets.

Surviving family, Kera’s husband Andrew, and the couple’s daughter Alaya, are among the plaintiffs alleging owners of Beaumont’s Sienna Apartment Homes failed to maintain adequate security measures that could have deterred or prevented the death.

On Tuesday, June 27 at 6:58 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to the northbound service road in the 2100 block of Eastex Freeway, in reference to a major crash, Officer Haley Morrow reported.

Liberty Police made two arrests in reference to a late night assault that took place on June 30, according to a news release from the department. Police responded to the 5000 block of Briar Grove in the Ridgewood subdivision shortly after 1 a.m. in reference to an assault.
