The Beaumont Police Department responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle on Friday, Feb. 22, at about 3 a.m. The caller said the vehicle was possibly casing the parking lot of the Comfort Suites on Walden Road. Officers quickly arrived and located a black male juvenile exiting the window of a vehicle and quickly detained him. Several suspects were seen exitinga  stolen grey Volkswagen Jetta close by, fleeing on foot.

On Friday, Feb. 22, two separate incidents caused Oak Forest Elementary to locked down and Mauriceville Elementary to initiate a lockout temporarily.

Vidor Independent School District announced the elementary was placed on lockdown because of two suspicious individuals were spotted walking on district property. The school went into a precautionary lockdown as seccurity and law enforcement investigated. The two were arrested on outstanding warrants and the lockdown was lifted.

Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced Wednesday, Jan. 20, that Shane Gotte, 50, was sentenced to an additional 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Based on a plea agreement between Gotte and the state, he was previously sentenced to 60 years on another charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, 20 years for three charges of indecency with a child by contact, 20 years for three charges of promotion of child pornography and 10 years for one charge of indecency with a child by exposure.

The Orange Police Department has identified Yovahnis Rogue, 26, as the man responsible for the Tuesday, Feb. 19, stabbing death of his 2-year-old daughter. 

According to information from OPD, officers responded to a call from a neighbor in reference to a possible death. They arrived on the scene within two minutes and discovered the girl dead inside the residence. 

An investigation showed Rogue was responsible for her death and Rogue was charged with capital murder.

Beaumont police officers on patrol in the 2000 block of Earl Street observed two suspicious vehicles at an abandoned residence on Monday, Feb. 18. Along with the vehicles, officers also spotted several individuals in the yard of the home at 2220 Earl Street.

The Beaumont Police Department responded to Star Bowling on Pinkston Drive on Sunday, Feb. 17, around 11:30 a.m. in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon officers' arrival, they found a red truck next to the woodline separating the bowling center and the Home Depot parking lot. Officers attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle; however, the driver pulled onto Pinkston driving towards Eastex Freeway. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the Home Depot parking lot, which resulted in the vehicle attempting to evade police.

On Sunday, February 17, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Beaumont police officers responded to the Safari Club located at 304 Orleans in reference to a victim of a shooting. At about the same time, officers also responded to a call in the 500 block of Orleans regarding shots fired. Officers learned a disturbance involving gun fire broke out in the club and continued to the surrounding parking lots.

The Port Arthur Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Duff Drive in reference to a home invasion just before 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18. According to information from PAPD, their investigation revealed a black male subject forced his way into the victim's residence armed with a shotgun and demanded money. The victims within the residence complied and were not harmed during the robbery.

A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a correctional officer working for Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) on Thursday, Feb. 14, for violating the civil rights of an inmate.

Amanda Brown, whose stepfather and sister are currently sitting in Calcasieu Parish Jail for kidnapping and battery charges stemming from an attempt to get Brown assistance for her drug use and mental health issues, is mostly free, roaming through Southeast Texas cities as she proudly displays her habits of drug use and prostitution through her social media accounts.
