Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden presents Dallas Blooms.

Dallas Blooms, one of “America’s best spring floral festivals,” according to USA Today 10 Best, returns Feb. 25 – April 9 with the theme Peace, Love and Flower Power, showcasing an explosion of color with more than 500,000 spring-blooming blossoms and dazzling layers of landscape at every turn. Reopening that day is the award-winning Rory Meyer Children’s Adventure Garden, a scientific museum without walls that has become a family favorite for hands-on science.

UPDATE, 1/9 at 1:40 p.m.: Fifty-five year old Roy Albert Pierson of Livingston was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries following an early morning crash on Highway 327. However, Pierson’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening, DPS PIO Stephanie Davis reported.

Macy’s, Inc. announced Wednesday, Jan. 4, that it would be closing 68 of its stores in a series of actions to streamline its store portfolio, intensify cost efficiency efforts and execute its real estate strategy. 

The Beaumont location is included in these closings. The Parkdale Mall location is 171,000 square feet, opened in 2002, and employs 67 associates. According to Macy’s spokesperson Melissa Goff, the final clearance sale began on Monday, Jan. 9, and will run 10 to 12 weeks.

Today, the City of Beaumont has partnered with SeeClickFix to announce a new mobile app called “Beaumont 311” that will allow citizens to report quality-of-life and non-emergency issues to the City, Chris Jarmon, executive assistant to the city manager, reported Jan 9. The app replaces GoRequest, which is the City’s current 311 mobile app.
