The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has adopted new regulations for the statewide oyster fishery that reduce commercial possession limits and establish additional harvest restrictions. The new rules affect both the recreational and commercial harvest of oysters.

The new rules reduce the commercial possession limit of oysters from 50 sacks to 40 sacks per day and close Sunday to the commercial and recreational harvest of oysters from Nov. 1 to April 30 every year.

The 100 Club of Southeast Texas received a check for $25,000 on Thursday, Aug. 18, from Martin Motors. The gift was a way for the automotive team to show its support for area police and fire personnel due, in part, to state and national events that have highlighted the importance of protecting and supporting all first responders, Martin Motors owner Danny Martin said.
