The Port Arthur Police Department was called to the 3200 block of 18th Street on Thursday, July 19, at about 1:15 a.m. in reference to a possible drive by shooting.

At about 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 73. The crash took place just west of Taylor's Bayou and involved at least three vehicles.

On Monday, July 15, at about 6:30 p.m., Beaumont police officers responded to the Dollar General located on E. Lucas in reference to a robbery in progress. 

Witnesses at the business stated that three black males robbed the store, one of which was armed with a firearm. While officers were in route, a witness told dispatchers the suspects had fled eastbound on E. Lucas in a maroon vehicle.

A Port Arthur man who pleaded guilty July 15 to continuous sexual abuse of a child has been sentenced to serve 30 years behind bars in state jail. 

According to information from Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham's office, Randy Allen Leblanc, 41, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony in accordance with a plea agreement.

Officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to the Memorial Boulevard, 25th Street intersection in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12.

Arriving officers found a male subject at the scene and determined he had been on a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. The 32-year-old Port Arthur man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. He was listed in critical condition but is expected to make a full recovery.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after train line employees discovered a body in the rail yard. 

According to information from JCSO, at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, deputies received a call from a Union Pacific  employee who reported that he had just found a badly decomposed body in a dumpster on the rail yard property located in the 107000 block of Old Sour Lake Road. 

Deputies responded to the scene, as did Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson. Judge Chesson has ordered an autopsy.

The Beaumont Police Department is looking for the individual, or individuals, responsible for burglarizing a mausoleum.

On Wednesday, July 3, officers responded to the Forest Lawn Cemetary located on Pine Street in reference to a burglary. That morning, grounds keepers found two mausoleum tombs had been significantly damaged, with one casket being removed from its tomb and opened. 

The incident is believed to have taken place between 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, and July 3, at 9 a.m.

A high speed chase that started in Jefferson County after deputies attempted to make a traffic stop for a moving violation ended following a crash in Westlake, La.

The Port Arthur Police Department received a call for service at about 6 p.m. July 8 at HEB on Gulfway Drive in reference to a robbery.

According to information gathered at the scene, a 17-year-old suspect approached a female victim and displayed a handgun. He took the victim's belongings and fled the scene. He was quickly apprehended and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

PAPD reports the incident is under investigation by its Criminal Investigative Division.
