1695 Tulane as seen by first in chief

At approximately 12:45 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to the report of a structure on fire at 1695 Tulane, according to a press release. When firefighters arrived, they found a vacant dwelling fully involved by fire. Firefighters were able to control the fire within fifteen minutes but not before a house next door also received some damage to the exterior. The occupant of that house was able to escape without injury.

Deputies arrested two people they say were in possession of methamphetamine and prohibited weapons after executing a search warrant on a residence in Mauriceville on Wednesday, July 23, reports the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

One man was injured and another arrested as the result of a shooting in Orange County on Thursday, July 24, reports sheriff's deputies.

The Pinehurst Police Department reports a local doctor’s office was the target of an in-depth investigation by the department and the DEA after numerous complaints were received by law enforcement officers from citizens complaining they suspected the doctor of abusing his position by prescribing large amounts of drugs to patients from Texas and Louisiana.

Sharon Rigsby, Beaumont ISD planetarium teacher at the Murry J. Frank Planetarium, has found herself once again on the district’s Reduction in Force (RIF) list.

The original RIF list, containing more than 100 teaching positions, including Risby’s, failed to garner enough support to pass at a Monday, June 30, Board of Trustees meeting.

July 24, 2014, at 5:40 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that Darius Treyvon Jenkins had been located.

In a press release July 24, 2014, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant division asked for the public’s assistance in locating wanted fugitive and serial criminal Darius Treyvon Jenkins, 22. Jenkins is currently wanted for burglary of a habitation.

Beaumont police and other law enforcement entities are starting their warrant roundup tomorrow and are advising anyone in the community with outstanding warrants to pay them today or face arrest.

According to a news release from BPD, area law enforcement agencies and municipal courts are joining forces to host the warrant round-up beginning Friday, July 25. Several cities within Jefferson County are participating in this round up.

Monday, July 21, The Examiner gave me the opportunity to meet with Texas Education Agency Commissioner of Education Michael Williams alongside various local media outlets. After receiving our clearance to visit with him, we were ushered to the fifth floor of the Edison Plaza building. Moments later, Commissioner Williams entered the room, joined us at the table where we were seated, and greeted us.
