Four juveniles were arrested on charges of aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity the early morning of Thursday, Dec. 20.

The Vidor Police Department (VPD) received a call from WalMart located on Main Street in Vidor in reference to a shop-lifting in progress. The caller advised two females inside the store were shop-lifting make up. According to information from VPD, the caller advised the two suspects attempted to leave the store with $112.36 worth of make up and beauty accessories. When confronted by WalMart's loss prevention officer, one female got into a white Mercedes with paper plates and left the parking lot.

An Entergy customer in the Winnie area reported he received a call from Entergy, urging him to wire transfer money to avoid disconnection. 

Information from Entergy states, "Entergy never calls and demands immediate payment over the phone. If you get such a call, it is a scam! Don't fall for it!

"In many of these scam cases, the criminal instructs the customer to put money on a pre-paid card and to call back with payment."

A Beaumont man was arrested Dec. 18, after Beaumont police officers responded to a call from Honey's Drive Inn on Concord at around 4:37 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a 28-year-old man that had been shot multiple times. The shooting victim was alert and able to communicate with first responders. 

Dispatch was able to communicate the description of a suspect vehicle, which a responding officer stopped on Magnolia Street. The officer detained the driver, identified as Anthony Eric Manning, 22, of Beaumont. Drugs and a gun were located in the vehicle.

Beaumont Police are investigating a robbery in the 3600 block of East Lucas. According to BPD, two black males entered the business, dressed in black hoodies with covered faces, and one pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk demanding money. After receiving the funds, the two robbers fled, on foot, east down Lucas. The two robbers looked to be between the ages of 17 and 20. If anyone has any information on the robbery they are asked to contact Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).

Starting Wednesday, Dec. 19 Jim Gilligan Way will be moving down to one lane on each side for curb repair and will remain in effect until further notice. The city of Beaumont also cautions all motorists to be aware of all detour signs and advance warnings, and to proceed with caution.

On Tuesday, Dec. 18, during the routine screening of inmate mail, staff at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Beaumont discovered an unknown, white, powdery substance. The mail room was promptly secured and the substance was contained. The U.S. Postal Inspector, local HAZMAT and fire department were immediately notified and upon arrival, conducted tests on the substance. Initial tests dtermined the powdered did not contain a biological type substance.

Three staff members in the institution's mail room are being medically evaluated. No other staff or inmates were exposed.

The Beaumont Police Department announced they will be amping up traffic enforcement through the coming weeks to encourage safe driving. According to a BPD release, the traffic enforcement will focus on driving while intoxicated offenses.

Chambers County Sheriff's Office has released video of the heroic actions of two of its deputies. At approximately 8:33 p.m. on Dec. 13, deputies responded to a major crash in the 3800 block of Highway 124, just south of Winnie. 

Upon arrival, Deputies Braedon Boznango and Carlton Carrington found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames from a rolloveer crash. They found an unconscious man in the front seat of the vehicle with his abdomen and legs on fire.

Beaumont Police Department (BPD) released a statement Tuesday, Dec. 18 warning Southeast Texans of a scam phone call. According to the statement, BPD was made aware of a scam in which the victim received a phone call from someone who identified themselves as a Beaumont Police officer calling in reference to warrants.
