The free community event with be Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Booker T. Elementary School, located on 1300 Freeman Avenue in Port Arthur, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This morning around 1:50 a.m., Jefferson County deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Boondocks Road, Deputy Marcus McLellan said in a release. The caller saw a truck pulling a trailer loaded with an excavator, and moving machinery after dark is unusual.

Police in Beaumont arrested three juveniles for auto burglaries Aug. 10 after a police K-9 tracked the young suspects to a garage, Officer Haley Morrow reports.

According to Morrow, officers responded to 1450 N. Major Dr. at about 3:30 a.m. in reference to a possible auto burglary in progress. While en route, the complainant advised that multiple juveniles had fled the scene in a red Dodge Charger, allegedly a stolen car.

After pulling the trigger in two fatal shootings in less than a year’s time while sworn to protect and serve as an officer of the Beaumont Police Department, Chase Welch exited the ranks of the local law enforcement agency early in 2017. San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he is now under their employ, but he was not in the office Wednesday, Aug. 9, allegedly because he was under review for involvement in yet another officer-involved shooting at his new job.
