Lamar University will host “Space Day” Friday, June 15, in the Dishman Art Museum from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event will include a discussion with veteran astronaut Bernard Harris and a student competition.

A billboard erected earlier this year near the intersection of Dowlen Road and Highway 69 proclaims, “Houston … you have a problem,” then touts “World Class Surgery. Personal Attention. Right here in Beaumont.”

Lawsuit says BISD violated Open Meetings Act

The Beaumont Independent School District is in the legal crosshairs of a concerned citizen who has filed a lawsuit against the district for violations of the Texas Open Meetings Act, according to Mike Getz, Beaumont City Councilman and attorney for Donna Forgas, who initiated the suit.
