According to the Facebook page for the Kountze Police Department, counterfeit money is being circulated throughout the community, and police need assistance finding the perpetrators. Clerks of every local business are encouraged to check all money received carefully. If counterfeit bills are acquired, KPD suggests keeping the money and calling local authorities, as identifying the person(s) handling the fake currency is essential.

On September 17, 2015, the Beaumont Public Library, in conjunction with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), will host a naturalization ceremony recognizing new candidates for U.S. citizenship at 10:00 a.m.  The ceremony will take place at the Main Library at 801 Pearl St.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested three men after they allegedly broke into the home of an elderly resident in the 1900 block of North China Road in China on Sept. 15, Assistant Chief Deputy Rod Carroll reports. Deputies also discovered weapons and drugs on the suspects during a search of the vehicle believed to have been used in the burglary.

Public hunters pursuing feral hogs at Cooper Wildlife Management Area in northeast Texas over the weekend stumbled upon a sophisticated marijuana growing encampment having more than 6,500 mature plants with a street value estimated at more than $6 million.

A woman in Orange attacked the clerk at the Honey Stop convenience store on Sept. 13 and stole money from behind the counter after reportedly losing her money at an 8-liner machine inside the business, the Orange Police Department reports.

Police in Beaumont recovered a live grenade from the GI Surplus store in the 5700 block of College Street on Sept. 14 when a man asked about the explosive item at the store after finding it while cleaning out his uncle's apartment, according the Beaumont Police Department.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a woman whose remains were discovered in 2000 in Falls County, reports DPS. Based on multiple forensic analyses, investigators estimate that the woman died in the mid-1980s, or possibly the early 1990s.
