Police in Beaumont have arrested a 55-year-old Beaumont man for aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor Saturday.

According to a news release from BPD, officers responded to 3255 Elmira in reference to an aggravated assault at 4:26 p.m. Investigating officers determined that Alvin Hicks, 55, used a knife to stab and slash his 50-year-old neighbor. The two men were reportedly involved in an ongoing disturbance that turned physical. Hicks went to the kitchen to get a knife, then stabbed the neighbor in the torso and slashed him across the neck.

One of three suspects accused in the murder of 53-year-old Kevin Alton Moyer of Dallas pleaded guilty to the crime in Jefferson County on July 25 and is now awaiting sentencing.

The Orange County Grand Jury has indicted Carl Jacob Broussard, 54, on two cases of failure to stop and render aid. These crimes are alleged to have occurred on Nov. 2, 2015, on MacArthur Drive in Orange. Two people were killed in the accident, and Broussard is charged with leaving the scene. Bond has been set at $100,000 on each case.

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting dangerous drug dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will periodically feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes here in High Five.

Texas Crime Stoppers, operating within the Office of the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, has announced a cash reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Travis County Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Craig Hutchinson. Hutchinson was killed early Monday morning, July 25, at his Round Rock home.
