Texas Parks and Wildlife personnel recovered the body of a Lumberton man who fell overboard while on a boat with a friend at Adams Bayou April 30.

Crime Stoppers is searching for the suspects in two separate robberies of the same Dollar General store on East Lucas in Beaumont, Beaumont Police Department Officer Carol Riley reports. 

According to Riley, on April 28, a man brandishing a handgun walked in to the store, located at 2730 East Lucas Dr., as employees were closing for the day, at about 9:15 p.m. He demanded money, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no patrons present at the store, and no one was injured.

Betty Kotz sat quietly in Jefferson County Judge Larry Gist’s criminal courtroom, but she sat tall. The 79-year-old waited to see what punishment would befall the man who was convicted by a jury of 12 for brutally beating and robbing her in May 2014.

May 5, Lamar University students in History 4354: The Holocaust will take part in the nationwide effort to honor the victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution by holding a Days of Remembrance event on the sixth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library on Lamar University’s campus from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The event coincides with the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust established by Congress and led by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
