A 22-year-old Zwolle, LA man has been sentenced to federal prison for his part in a kidnapping conspiracy scheme targeting individuals in the Eastern District of Texas and surrounding area, Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston announced May 11.

On May 7 at about 9:25 p.m. the Lake Charles Police Department was assigned to Cancun Mexican Restaurant, at 4001 Ryan Street, in reference to a burglary and theft, Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said in a release.

Seeking – and garnering – re-election in the city of Beaumont were At-Large Council members Gethrel “Get” Williams-Wright and W.L. Pate, and Mayor Becky Ames.

New to the City Council dais will be Ward 1 representative Virginia Jordan, who handily took a majority vote from incumbent Claude Guidroz.

Guidroz said his good-byes during Beaumont City Council on Tuesday, May 9. All incoming and re-elected Beaumont City Council members will be sworn into office May 16.

Judice’s Cajun Café at 2045 Texas Ave. in Bridge City

Jefferson County Commissioners approved a ground lease agreement with Al Judice on Monday, May 8, to bring a new Cajun restaurant to Jack Brooks Regional Airport in Mid-County.

Al Judice, who owns Judice’s Cajun Café in Bridge City and Judice’s French Market in Port Arthur, agreed to pay an annual base fee of $5,600 for the first five years and an increased rate every five years afterwards.
