A Lumberton man was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 24, following what Hardin County Sheriff's Office is calling a dispute with a Coleman Road homeowner over property that he was given permission to hunt on. The area, located near the Neches River, is secluded and usually accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles and ATVs, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

A pastor in Orange reported he was the victim of a weekend theft at his church, Full Gospel Holy Temple in the 1400 block of Ninth Street, just after 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say the burglary occurred sometime overnight from Friday evening to Saturday morning.

A Beaumont man has undergone at least one surgery and is recovering after he was wounded in a gunfight with Beaumont police Saturday night, Aug. 24.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, FM 105 between the limits of FM1135 and FM1442 will be reduced from two lanes to one lane of traffic with flaggers at each end. The traffic closure is from Friday, Aug. 23 through Monday, Aug. 26, and then Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. for road work.

A 49-year-old Hull, Texas, woman has pleaded guilty to racketeering charges related to her association with a “white’s only” criminal enterprise that engaged in methamphetamine distribution and murder in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.
