An Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy transporting a juvenile from Orange to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Facility in Jefferson County has been shot after a struggle with the minor.

Officers from the Beaumont Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Wall Street on Friday morning, Jan. 20, on reports that a victim was shot in the area.

Patrol Division Officers arrived to the location to find a 49-year-old Hispanic male victim suffering from a superficial gunshot wound to the left side of his neck. Officers summoned Beaumont EMS, who responded and transported the victim to St. Elizabeth Hospital. The victim was ultimately treated and released from the emergency room.
