Deweyville's Willis competing at national tournament

Deweyville High School junior Kennidee Willis recently competed with 200 girls from across the state for one of 12 spots on the Lone Star Volleyball team. After the the smoke cleared, Willis secured a spot with the team and they are currently playing in the Team USA High Performance International Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa through July 25.

Last season, Willis helped the Deweyville Lady Pirate volleyball team make the playoffs for the first time in 13 years while leading the team with 465 kills. She was named the district’s top Outside Hitter of the Year, TGCA All-State and TSWA honorable mention All-State.

Willis will play her junior club season with the Houston Juniors meaning she will make a two and a half hour trip at least two times per week.
