Kelly women's soccer team wins PNG Indian Kickoff Tournament


The Lady Bulldogs Soccer Team of Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School swept through the  Indian Kickoff Tournament hosted by Port Neches-Groves to become undefeated champions weekend of Jan. 19, 2013.  Other teams competing were PN-G, Jasper, CE King (Sheldon), Hardin Jefferson, Lumberton, LC-M, Bridge City, Victoria West, Nederland, Silsbee, Glenda Dawson (Pearland), Port Arthur Memorial, Vidor, Dobie (Baytown), and Hamshire Fannett.

 The Bulldogs defeated Glenda Dawson of Pearland and Nederland to head to the semi-final game against Lumberton, which they won in a shootout. The championship game featured Kelly against Dobie High School of Baytown, who had defeated PN-G for a chance to play for the championship. Kelly beat Dobie 2-1 to win its second tournament title this year. Earlier this season, the Lady Bulldogs defeated district rivals St. Agnes of Houston to win the SACS & Shamrocks 2012 Invitational in San Antonio.  The Lady Bulldogs continue  district play Tuesday, Jan. 22, as the face off against Incarnate Word Academy in Houston.
