King Mo Lawal speaks about winning Bellator's light heavyweight tournament

Post fight comments from Bellator’s huge Spike TV card held at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho NM on July 31. No press conference was held for the fighters due to five post TV prelim fights but Ben Askren, Michael Chandler, King Mo and Bjorn Rebney were available for some quotes.

King Mo Lawal

On his beef with Jacob Noe…

It was more of the people from where we are from talking, so we just ran with it. I think he is a great man and great father for fighting for his kids. The animosity is gone. I threw everything at him and I was hoping he was done after the 1st round. In the 3rd round, he just couldn’t see. Blood was all in his eye.

It was a night for the wrestlers to shine…

I think a lot of wrestlers, especially here in Bellator, get no respect. No one at 170 is going to out-wrestle Ben Askren. I wrestled him once when he was 84kg and knew he was going to be difficult to handle. He can do what he did tonight to anyone.

Thoughts on those from TNA Impact supporting you in MMA

Yes. People don’t understand how tough pro wrestling is. People who laugh at me for doing it, they need to go out there and take a few bumps and it would change their mind. The mutual respect those guys have for me and vice versa makes me feel real good and it makes me want to fight harder.

Do you want to be on Bellator’s first PPV card?

I will do whatever they want me to do. I think Rampage and Tito are a great matchup. They know each other and they used to train together. There are people out there that are going to be negative about it. Well, I’m going to watch the fight. Both guys are going to train real hard for this.
