Lamar to name basketball coach by April 7

Lamar University is getting closer to announcing their next men's head basketball coach.

Sources close to the hiring process state that at least 10 coaches were interviewed, either formally or informally, and a decision will be made April 7.

Those who have interviewed, in no particular order, are:

Terry Evans, head coach at Central Oklahoma
Tic Price, Lamar assistant coach
Pat Knight, former Texas Tech head coach
Matt Cross, head coach at Lamar State-Port Arthur
Matt Figger, assistant coach at Kansas State
Grant McCasland, head coach at Midwestern State
Chris Crutchfield, assistant coach at Oral Roberts
Alvin Brooks, assistant coach at University of Houston
Glynn Cyprien, assistant coach at Memphis
Don "Bubba" Skelton, head coach at Jones County Community College

McCasland can be taken off the list. He has since left Midwestern State and has been named the new head coach at Abilene Christian.
