Local high school golfers headed to state tournament
The Kelly Bulldogs boys’ golf team finished fourth at the TAPPS Regional Tournament on April 15 at the Gleannloch Pines Golf Club in Spring. With the finish, the team will play in the TAPPS State Golf Tournament on April 28-29 at Wildflower Country Club in Temple.
Sophomore William Miller led the team with a Top 10 finish with a score of 154. Other Kelly golfers that competed along with scores were Corbin Cormier (157), Tristan Chaudury (158), Art McMakin (163) and Chase Talbot (165).
Headed to the UIL Class 4A state golf tournament is Little Cypress-Mauriceville sophomore Lauren Cox who qualified by finishing fifth at the 4A Region III Tournament with a score of 150. The 4A Girls State Tournament will be held April 28 at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
Southeast Texas will have one boys’ golfer at state in Braden Bailey, who finished second for Port Neches-Groves.
