CORSICANA – With the game tied and possession of the ball, Lamar State College – Port Arthur men's basketball team held its fate in its own hands … then it disappeared just as quickly. A turnover by the Seahawks with 2.1 seconds left and a buzzer-beating basket by Navarro handed the Bulldogs an 81-79 win in overtime Saturday, Jan. 5.
After trailing by as many as 12 points, Lamar State-Port Arthur battled back to force overtime in this critical Region 14 showdown at Bulldogs Gym. In the extra period, the Hawks took control behind freshman guard Tre Bennett, who finished the game with 23 points.
