Valastro leaving East Chambers for Galveston Ball
Tony Valastro has left East Chambers after six seasons and will become the new head football coach and athletic director at Class 4A Galveston Ball.
Born in Galveston, but raised in High Island, Valastro leaves East Chambers with a 47-21 record. In six seasons he led the Buccaneers to four district titles. Before coming to EC, he won the Class 3A state championship in 2000 at La Grange.
He carries an overall record of 136-61-1 and will takeover for former Port Arthur Lincoln and Beaumont Central coach David Suggs who resigned after a 1-9 season.
Valastro also indicated he will not coach in the second annual Southeast Texas Ford Dealers All-Star Classic football game held June 11 at Provost Umphrey Stadium on the campus of Lamar University. Instead, Craig Stump of West Brook will get those duties.
