West Brook Bruins to raise money with free car wash

Saturday morning, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. the West Brook Bruin football players will hold a free car wash for the community in the Alex Durley Stadium parking lot at 8750 Phelan Blvd. in Beaumont.

Besides early 5:30 a.m. practice sessions this week won’t keep the Bruins from raising money to support the team. Players have been out asking friends and family for 10 cent pledges for every car they wash on Saturday. The Bruins are hoping for 100 cars to pass through for the free car wash. That would break down to $10 from each donor if they reach their goal.

The Bruins’ goal is to be a blessing to the community, not a burden. Money raised will provide items for the players to help relieve the BISD West Brook football budget. Home pregame meals for freshman, JV and varsity teams are needed because players are not allowed to leave campus after school and before the game. HUDL, an online video website that helps college scouts recruit players as well as allows parents to view practices and games would be the next item and with any additional funds, training supplies and equipment will be purchased.

The Bruins would like to thank sponsor Joey Hilliard of HydoClean Pressure Washing, who has donated his equipment for the day so that all cars will receive a quality car wash.

After the car wash, beginning at 1 p.m., the West Brook Football Booster Club and the West Brook Football Coaches will participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
