Lots of trout are being caught on the lower end of Sabine Lake.

The Lady Cards opened up the season last weekend with two shutout losses to San Jose State and Louisiana Tech. It’s the first time since 2008 that the Cards have opened the season with two shutout losses.

Doves, ducks, deer and gators are on the hunting menu here in Southeast Texas.

We are just about there. Dove season starts Sept. 1, teal season is Sept. 12, bow season on deer opens Oct. 3, alligator season is Sept 10, and Oct. 1 is the East Texas squirrel season opener. It’s definitely prep time for hunting in Southeast Texas.

The game Aug. 20 provided the wounded service members a chance to engage with other veterans in a social atmosphere. It also let them watch the American League West Division leading Astros in action.
