After losing 13-1 on Nov. 17 in their debut in the Professional Indoor Soccer League (PASL) at Rio Grande Valley, the Texas Strikes will play their first home game on Saturday, Dec. 1 when the team hosts the Dallas Sidekicks (2-0) at 7 p.m.

This is the inaugural season of the Strikers of Beaumont, who will play eight home games in the 16-game PASL schedule. Ticket prices are $25 (field side), $18, $15 or $9.

Former Cleveland Browns running back William Green addressed Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School students Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the school’s auditorium to send a message of encouragement and motivate them to make decisions leading to success in life. Trainer Doug O’Neill has won a lot of big races this year including the Kentucky Derby, and he has now added another big one to his resume. Goldencents, who was one of two O’Neill trainees in the race, led gate to wire and held off two late runners in Bern Identity and Mylute to win the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot on Nov. 17.

The day after Thanksgiving is known as the busiest shopping day of the year, but it’s also a day when the high school boys basketball season gets its unofficial start as the eighth annual Fred Williams Classic is held at Ozen High School on Nov. 23.
This year, five games are scheduled with doors opening at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for the entire day. Ozen is at 3443 Fannett Road in Beaumont.
The first game on the docket is set with Port Arthur Memorial vs. West Orange-Stark at 2:30 p.m. Following the opener will be Class 4A No. 1 Ozen Lady Panthers vs. Houston Wheatley at 4 p.m.
