Art on display at the Big Thicket

Big Thicket National Preserve has announced the installation of a new temporary art exhibit in the park’s visitor center. Titled “All the Little Things,” this art installation, a part of the Dream Rocket Project, encouraged students throughout Texas to create more than 70 pieces of art highlighting the vast array of plants and animals found in the Thicket. Each piece represents the student’s unique perspective on the diversity of the natural environment throughout this region.

Sound/InSight is an open invitation exhibition inspired by music written for this event at The Art Studio by Lamar University School of Music students and will be on display from Nov. 4-24 with an opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 7-10 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

“The idea is for artists of any medium to listen to the pieces of music and create a work that is directly inspired by the music,” said Andy Coughlan, curator. “It will be fascinating to see the diversity of interpretations of the work.”
