Beaumont EMS

Gariyon Coleman, a 19-year-old Beaumont resident died from gunshot wounds Thursday, July 19. 

According to a press release by Beaumont Police Department, at 10:09 p.m. Beaumont Police responded to 2950 S. 8th St (Sunlight Manor), in reference to shots fired. When Officers arrived on scene, they located a gun shot victim and attempted to render aid, however, the victim was pronounced deceased a short time later by Beaumont EMS. The victim was identified as Coleman. Detectives are seeking information from possible witnesses to this homicide.

Ginger, a 3- to 4-year-old pit bull, is in high spirits after being rescued by Beaumont Fire-Rescue from a house fire and revived.

According to a statement, on Monday, June 26, Beaumont Fire-Rescue responded to multiple calls of a house on fire in the 1300 block of Evalon. Fire department crews arrived within three minutes of the first 911 call.

Investigators are attempting to determine what caused the death of a 58-year-old man found lying unconscious on a city sidewalk April 8, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

According to Officer Haley Morrow, officers responded to the 2600 block of Irving in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers located Eustiseu Rocha lying unresponsive on the sidewalk. Rocha was pronounced deceased on the scene by Beaumont EMS. Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Cause of death is unknown at this time pending autopsy.

Wednesday, Aug. 9, just after 11 a.m., a car hit a building at 7102 Phelan, injuring one person.

On May 5, at 12:46 p.m., Beaumont Fire-Rescue units responded to a fire alarm at Baten Arms Apartments in the 4300 block of Westridge Lane, Capt. Brad Penisson said in a release.

The public is invited to attend Duty Calls: Honoring Our First Responders at the Julie Rogers Theatre on Tuesday, March 21, at 6 p.m. This event will recognize first responders from Beaumont Police and Fires Departments, and Beaumont EMS. 

The committee, which includes Anna J. Brian, Carol Gary, Elaine Henderson, Barbara Marshall, Barbara Otto, and Robin Troy have joined forces with Mayor Becky Ames and the City of Beaumont to help show support to first responders and provide each one of them a copy of the devotional book, Strength for Service to God and Community.

On Feb. 22, about 6:45 PM, Beaumont and Fire Rescue units responded to a report of multiple apartments on fire at the Cardinal Oaks Apartments, 1280 Saxe St., Capt. Brad Penisson reported.

On Jan. 4, shortly after 9 a.m., Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported house fire at the corner of Harding Drive and Woodlawn Avenue, Beaumont Fire and Rescue Captain Brad Penisson reported.
