An elderly Beaumont woman died Dec. 6 after a structure fire, Beaumont Fire and Rescue Capt. Brad Penisson said in a release.

Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4:10 p.m., Beaumont Fire and Rescue units responded to a structure fire reported in the 2000 block of Kingsley Drive. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames showing from the upper room of the house.

The 100 Club held their annual membership meeting and luncheon at noon on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the C.A. "Pete" Shelton Firefighter Memorial Plaza at 400 Walnut Street in downtown Beaumont, hosted by Chief Anne Huff and the Beaumont Fire and Rescue Services staff.

Beaumont Deputy Chief Fire Marshall Joe Condina cooked his renowned firehouse gumbo, and the rest of the luncheon was sponsored by Rao’s Bakery, Moncla’s, and Coastal Welding Supply.

Beaumont Fire-Rescue units responded to a structure fire in the 4600 block of Dallas Street on Wednesday, Oct. 12, around 2:15 a.m.

Firefighters arriving on the scene found the flames coming through the roof of the home. They made a quick attack and extinguished the fire, confining damage to one area of the roof and the room directly below.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says a chemical spill into Willow Marsh Bayou has been contained and that work to remove the solvent from the bayou is ongoing, and the area should be avoided during cleanup operations.

A resident on the west side of Beaumont reported a gas smell to Beaumont Fire-Rescue around 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 23. A search traced the source back to the GE Betz facility.

Beaumont Fire Department responds to two structure fires over the weekend.

Beaumont Fire suppression units were dispatched to a reported building on fire at 4575 Ford,  on Dec. 12 at approximately 11: 39 p.m. Units arrived to find a detached garage involved by fire. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within fifteen minutes after arriving on scene.

Around noon on Wednesday, Nov. 4, the last fire engine rolled away from burnt bricks, charred beams and ash, the only remnants of the once beautiful Ridgewood Retirement Center.

Tuesday, Nov 4, at 10:27 a.m., Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a fire reported at the vacant retirement community at 2520 Interstate 10 E. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire conditions in the lobby and dining area of the hotel.
