Wednesday, Jan. 18, just after 10:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of Cartwright Street, Beaumont Fire-Rescue received a call for a house fire, Beaumont Fire Department Captain Jimmy Blanchard reported.

Beaumont Fire-Rescue personnel responded and found a single story home heavily involved with fire. The homeowner was on scene and reported being asleep when he was awakened by the fire. The home sustained heavy fire damage.

After investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental, being caused by a clothes dryer.

On Jan 12., shortly after midnight, Beaumont Fire and Rescue units responded to a structure fire at Carlito’s restaurant, located at 890 Amarillo, reported Captain Brad Penisson.

When firefighters arrived, they found a small fire at the electrical panel on an exterior wall. The fire was quickly extinguished and caused only minor damage, according to the BFD statement.

On Jan. 4, shortly after 9 a.m., Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported house fire at the corner of Harding Drive and Woodlawn Avenue, Beaumont Fire and Rescue Captain Brad Penisson reported.

Beaumont Fire and Rescue received multiple phone calls reporting a house on fire on Jan. 1 around 3:30 a.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 17 shortly after 7:30 pm, Beaumont Fire dispatch received multiple calls of a house on fire in the 5200 block of Wildwood Drive, in the north end of Beaumont, Beaumont Fire Department Captain Jimmy Blanchard reported Dec. 18.

Beaumont Fire and Rescue reported a natural gas line leak on Dec. 13 at 12:51 p.m.

"Emergency personnel are on the scene of a natural gas line rupture in the vicinity of 2688 S 4th St," District Fire Chief Scott Wheat said in a release. "For precautionary measures, occupants are being evacuated in the immediate vicinity. All traffic is being diverted around the area as well. The public is advised to stay clear of the area until notified."

An elderly Beaumont woman died Dec. 6 after a structure fire, Beaumont Fire and Rescue Capt. Brad Penisson said in a release.

Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4:10 p.m., Beaumont Fire and Rescue units responded to a structure fire reported in the 2000 block of Kingsley Drive. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames showing from the upper room of the house.

The 100 Club held their annual membership meeting and luncheon at noon on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the C.A. "Pete" Shelton Firefighter Memorial Plaza at 400 Walnut Street in downtown Beaumont, hosted by Chief Anne Huff and the Beaumont Fire and Rescue Services staff.

Beaumont Deputy Chief Fire Marshall Joe Condina cooked his renowned firehouse gumbo, and the rest of the luncheon was sponsored by Rao’s Bakery, Moncla’s, and Coastal Welding Supply.
