UPDATES: Instructor Cequana Clark informed The Examiner on Thursday evening, Sept. 13, that she has been asked to turn in her keys and receipt book, terminating her employment with BISD. Clark anticipated losing half her paycheck with the cancelation of the adult cosmetology program, but she was still employed as a night-class instructor for the Taylor Center.

After spending more than an hour behind closed doors discussing the contract between Walker's Electric and the Beaumont Independent School District, trustees voted to allow the school attorney, Melody Chappell, review invoices and other documents - tabling the issue of whether or not to suspend the relationship between the company and BISD.

BISD hires new PR assistant for Haynes

Despite facing the impact of budget cuts by the Texas Legislature and publicly announcing that “no one in the district, not even the superintendent” would receive a raise this year, Beaumont Independent School District spokesperson Jessie Haynes announced on Friday April 8 that she hired an assistant for the communications department.
